~Third Make It Monday~

Not promising this will be my last Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday 39 project.

I sort of started this at the same time when I was doing the other two.

I wanted to make sure and get it done.

I believe it's my favorite.

Thank you for looking. ;)

INFO:

~Another Make It Monday Deer~

This is the card I was working on first for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday 39.

Somehow, it got finished second.

Isn't that how it goes? ;)

The side "flaps" ARE anchored down with Scor-Tape.

I needed to say that because the pictures look like they are blowing in the breeze.

I asked my 13 year old, "Is this too odd to share?".

She thought it was cool.

I'm cool with that. ;)

Can you tell I like the deer from In the Meadow?

The other Papertrey Ink sets that came to play:

Grunge Me (bulls-eye,splatter and sentiment)
Shape Up Snowman Accessories (squiggly lines)~ I am seriously loving those lines.
I used my Scor-Pal to score...then folded to fit my "DP" within the card.

The sentiment was stamped on a miniature Spellbinder's eleven die (I cropped it smaller and folded it like a bead back).

There is some texture to it-it was a leftover piece that was embossed with a Sizzix wood embossing folder.

I didn't intend to do this unconventional...but it's growing on me.

It reminds me of a Southwestern shawl.

Hope it's not too out there for ya. ;)

Thank you for stopping in. ;)

Other items: Papertrey ink Premium Dye true black ink,MS ink (turquoise),Tim Holtz Distress inks (marmalade and mustard)

~Make It Monday and a Chipboard Deer Accent~

Multi-stamp Background Building got me started today in the right direction.

I used a variety of stamp sets to achieve a masculine/feminine card.

I think so, anyway. ;)

I know a girl hunter who I think would like this.

The deer is a chipboard accent I learned to make in a previous Make It Monday  #34.

The Papertrey Ink sets I used:

Deer-In the Meadow stamp and die
Squiggly lines and dots-Shape Up Snowman Accessories
Geometric layer-Grunge Me
Sentiment-Wreath for All Seasons

I had everything laying out and didn't plan to come up with this, but I like it!

Thanks for stopping in-give this technique a try. ;)

~Amazing Kid~

My nephew has a birthday coming up.

A couple of years ago, he came to visit and went sledding for the first time.

That's craft foil behind a hole I created with a Marvy circle punch.

The silhouette is a perfect image for the little guy-hope he remembers having fun here.

It was cut from Papertrey Ink's In the Meadow die set.

Here's without the glare.

Inspiration for using stars comes from Less is More Week 39-Lucky Dip Stars.

I die cut them, sponged them with Memento sand ink and strung them on twine.

My sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Game On.

Thank you so much for stopping by. ;)

~No People Like Snowpeople~

I LOVE SNOWPEOPLE.

I USED to say "I love snowmen".

But then, I met her.

She's modeled after my Great-Aunt Grace who is 93!

Actually, Aunt Grace doesn't wear glasses...but I couldn't resist stamping these for her (Lawn Fawn Clear to See).

This 3D decoration shouldn't take up too much space in my aunt's room.

I used Papertrey Ink's Shape-Up Series Snowman Die and stamps.(oooh, I just caught that.)

I should write to them about changing it to snowpeople...

WINK. ;)

She's anchored to a Papertrey Ink coaster that's been decorated with DP (sanded on the edges to keep it from flipping up).

I wanted Aunt Grace to see that spool.

She would appreciate that I recycled that.

She spent MANY volunteer HOURS crafting gifts and delivering flowers to a local hospital (years back when she could).

Here's a shot of the other side.

I gave the tree a little depth with two sides.

I stamped snowflake "decorations" on the DP part of the tree.

My colors were inspired by Embellish Magazine's Die Cuts Color Trend.

Thank you for peeking in today. ;)

~Burnt Henna~

Burnt Henna.

The color intrigues me.

ALMOST orange, but definitely not brown or red.

The "ruffle" on this card is the color.

Inspirational challenges:

Autumn Woods

See the Burnt Henna sandwiched between the olives and yellows?

Who could deny all that gorgeous wood texture...I used it for the olive layer.  It was created by a Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder.

~Tilt it~

I really tried to make this card straight....but the tilt was calling to me. ;)

I truly need tilts in my life.

They reassure me that perfection is not the only way (unless you're a heart/brain surgeon...any surgeon, of course).

Tilts are acceptable in cardmaking.

Isn't that great?

~Dashing Through~

Another Christmas card....it's really getting to be that time.

We're already feeling the cooler weather.

For the brown card base, I rubbed a Tim Holtz Distress ink Tea Dye on white cardstock.

I used my Spellbinders scalloped circles to create the frame for this image and to emboss the blue "sky".

The sketch is borrowed from Card Patterns Sketch 138.

The colors are inspired by PlayDate Cafe PDCC105.
Yummy!!! ;)

~True Happiness~

True Happiness

When my husband was close to his military retirement a few years ago, the mailman asked him,

"Are you retired?"

My husband answered the best he could at the time, "Well, sort of."

To which the mailman replied with a thick, southern drawl,

"Either ya are, or ya aren't".

We still use that phrase around the house. ;)

True Happiness.

Either ya have it, or ya don't.

Not a challenge...just a thought. ;)

I'm not sure what I will write in this card or to whom I will send it.

The sentiment just seemed to fit the card. ;)

Have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by.

~Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop~

I've missed too many of these hops at Nichole Heady's blog and am thrilled to participate this evening.

I pulled out some awesome orange/green DP and

 did  the following:

~Punched some DP circles

~Wrapped them with Papertrey ink eyelet lace borders cut from the same DP

~Arranged them on a strip decorated with background paper made from Tim Holtz marmalade distress ink applied directly to white cardstock.

~Lined up some bling (for some semblance of order) ;)

~Then stamped a sentiment...perfect excuse to catch up with old friends...it will go in the mail soon.

Love this inspirational photo:

Hope you got a chance to participate.

There's still time. ;)

Now off to hop....thanks for stopping in. ;)

~You're a Vision~

Bold colors are perfect for CAS.

This week's

recipe is POLKA DOTS.

I used my most favorite ink...Staz On Fuschia pink.

It is the boldest color I have-and I look for excuses to use it. ;)

Perfect ink to backdrop this awesome paper flower from American Crafts.

I bi-colored petals with ink, overlapped them, and clear embossed the green end.

Check out this inspirational photo from FYI Challenge #16

~Sticky Note Holder~

I made a project today to give as a gift.

The covers of this sticky note holder were based off Papertrey Ink coasters.

I wrapped them in 5x5 DP and glued a strip connecting them with a 4X8(or so) strip of DP...the ribbon glued between each sandwich.

The silhouette image was stamped in brown and clear embossed.

I cut it out with Spellbinder scalloped ovals and edged it with Memento ink.

There's a cinnamon stick glued inside for a wonderful scent.

Hope she likes cinnamon! ;)

I used my brown Copic marker to color the buttons.

Thank you for stopping in today. ;)

~Life is a Journey~

Are you afraid to use those Copic Markers?

I was at first.

Then, I had fun.

I dabbed.

It's way easier than coloring...it will build your confidence.

Try dabbing in those colors with your copics...the brush stroke end.

You'll get hooked, I'm tellin' ya! ;)

~Having You for Parents~

My parents are the best.

They really are.

At the beginning of this month, they took us to Disney World.

I owe them a huge thank you.

Thank You, Mom and Dad

for feeding us... (LOL  ...A LOT!!!!...go for the meal plan but don't over-count)....

keeping us dry (mom thought ahead and packed us ponchos...good thing, too...it rained straight for two days)...

for walking NON-STOP for six days so your grandkids could see ALL DISNEY HAD TO OFFER...

for flying all this way....

and so much more. ;)

I borrowed this sentiment from Pin-interest that I found when I searched for "dad".

I changed it to parents.

The challenges which inspired me:

I didn't use old scraps..but DID show my Justrite Curlz font and my Duncan Scribbles Aloha orchid 3D paint some love (it actually had lost the cover...but once peeling back the dry stuff, there was enough liquid in there to create little beads on my die cut flourish....YAYYYY!).

Oh, just a little tip if you're planning a Disney vacation soon....plan to walk.

The last time I went...I was 14.  I only remember long lines.

Now...

all I can warn is...

YOU WILL WALK.

But, the child in you will be so distracted by fun...that you'll make it. ;)

~Merii Kurisumasu~

Another NEW ADORABLE stamp to play with...

great opportunity to brush up on my Japanese Katakana.

I went to Japanese school (an hour after grade school) and followed up in High school.
I'm no expert, but I do want to share that there is a special alphabet, Katakana, which is used for English words said with a Japanese pronunciation.

Hence the special "Merii Kurisumasu" (meh ree kuu ree suu mah suu)...

or "Merry Christmas" as you know it. ;)

The "r"s are not pronounced "rrrrrr" but more like a "lllllllrrr" with a roll of the tongue.

It took forever to get that sound to come out of my mouth.

Believe me, I was corrected NUMEROUS times...

"MARINA-SAN, say it again....LLLLLRRRAAAA"

(Marina-san)...."rrraaa"

"ee-eh, (no)

...LLLLLRRRRAAAA".

No worries, I got it (it's embarrassing to twist your tongue and get it to cooperate in front of a room full of children)

It stuck. ;)

Inspiration from Textured to Perfection Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Texture's there

with my Spellbinder stacked embossed circles creating lift in the background;

the bendy tree all bendy;

and the crumpled tissue (polka dot green) from
my blog candy win from Jaclyn Miller's blog (just had to credit her generosity one more time).

I also added a layer of stiff felt for the snow with scribbles of, well,
SCRIBBLES that are glittery by Duncan.

My colors are lended from Color Throwdown #164.

Thank you for stopping in today, it's always a pleasure when you visit. ;)

~A Dressy Thank You~

I have a huge "thank you" to dress up today.

I just received my blog candy win from Jaclyn Miller's blog recently.

What a blessing! ;)

It was filled with goodies and this awesome card (the second one).

Moxie Fab's dress

inspired the "skirt" shape of my patterned paper.  The gorgeous design on the dress drew me to the My Mind's Eye DP.

I scored a grey panel for the background to mimic the grey bodice.

The manufactured die cut was cut with an oval to create a frame.  I learned that technique from Papertrey's Make It Monday.

I was truly blessed by Jaclyn's generous prize! ;)

Thank you for stopping in today. ;)

~A Watercolor Thank You~

Papertrey's Make it Monday #36 is Faux Watercoloring.

Lisa Johnson shares a video tutorial to teach you this technique.

It is a beautiful, subtle effect that I used for this thank you card.

My favorite element from Grunge Me was arranged as a flower and lightly smeared with a damp brush.

I laced that layer up with some braiding cord.

The only ink I own which reacted with water was the ColorBox pigment.

Try it with all your inks and see which works the best.
